LEA Training

This website provides information and links of interest to those who operate solid waste facilities as well as those who inspect and regulate these facilities. Information includes upcoming and previous trainings; training resources; on-line training; new LEA staff orientation; and the LEA/CIWMB Conference.

Types of Training

• Classroom
  • Training Schedule: Includes dates and details of upcoming training courses.
  • Recent Training: Provides information on classes that occurred in the past year.
  • Training Archives: Provides information on classes and workshops that occurred in prior years.
• LEA-CIWMB Conference: Provides information on upcoming and previous conferences, including; agenda; biographies; and presentations.
• On-line Training: Includes links to videos of training offered to LEAs and others.
• Web Conferencing: Includes information on upcoming and past web conferences which utilize the Internet to hold "virtual" meetings and seminars.

Tools and Resources

• New LEA Orientation: An electronic orientation to help new LEAs. These resources are intended to provide an introduction to the CIWMB, Board Members and Board programs. Also provides some handy web links.
• Fact Sheets: For use by LEAs and solid waste facility operators in conducting day-to-day operations.
• Training Resources: Links to solid waste topics that are relevant to LEAs. It supplements the LEA Training program's classroom and web-based training and provides "how-to" guides for specific topics.
• Video Library: A library available to LEAs. The video topics include, but are not limited to, asbestos, landfill safety, emergency response, development of closed landfills, composting, landfill inspection techniques and state minimum standards.

Training Needs Survey

One of the ways CIWMB seeks LEA input regarding training topics is through a survey. The survey results enable training to be prioritized based on LEA needs. The new survey is generally available early in the calendar year.
